BLOG 4: Time Travel to the Future
Forward, always forward.
In middle school, we had to read some books that were categorized as "classics." I don't really know if 'Marianela' is one of them, but at that moment, I really enjoyed it. For those who have never read this novel, I'm going to summarize it: Marianela is an orphaned girl who was 'adopted' by a well-off family. In that house, she takes on the responsibility of keeping the son of that family safe. Why? He is blind. So she takes him on trips in the meadow and describes the world to him with words. Both of them fall in love. Partly because he feels grateful to Marianela for being his eyes. On the other hand, she has never been treated well because she is very ugly. Well, this story doesn't have a happy ending. A doctor arrives in the town and cures the son's eyes. He sees that Marianela is ugly, and he rejects her. Then, he marries his cousin! Marianela falls into deep sadness and she dies.
What a sad story! But, what is the purpose of relating this? None, really. Just kidding. The doctor has a celebrated quote, and he says at the beginning of the story: "Forward, always forward." Since I read that phrase, it has become a lifestyle for me. And I think it fits with the theme of this entry.
So, based on that introduction, I would like to go to the future, specifically 10,000 years into the future. Why? Because in those years, the sun will die. So, in case the human race still exists, I want to see how they survive that canonical event. But I don't want to stay there; I would take on the role of a spectator, just like a person who watches a movie. This is basically because I don't want to die there. My death has to be in the present, doing chef or rockstar things, or maybe just like 'Marianela,' who died for love.
