BLOG 3: My dream job

A big dream, to become a Chef

First, I would like to introduce you to the mental image that I have about food. I always enjoy food. Do not misunderstand me; I don't only talk about eating (though enjoying delicious dishes is also good); I also take pleasure in other factors, like the scent, the appearance, and the aesthetics. And I want you to pause at this term: aesthetics. This word has a strong presence in recent years (especially in other areas like clothing and lifestyle), but when I talk about food, it takes on another meaning for me. I imagine an experienced chef cooking amazing dishes with a lot of skill. For me, that is a spectacular show to watch.

So, yes, my dream job was to be a chef and make people happy with the food I cook. The question is: If your dream was to become a chef, why are you studying dentistry? Well... Being a chef was a childhood dream that came to my mind after seeing characters like Remy (the name of the rat that stars in "Ratatouille," I used to think his name was the same as the movie title), Sanji from "One Piece," and Soma from "Food Wars." But when I started watching more 'realistic' programs like "Masterchef" or "Hell's Kitchen," they showed a much harsher reality of the chef's life, which diverged from the dream I had.

Sometimes, we cannot change our destiny, but if I have the opportunity to make my dream come true, I would like to have a restaurant and travel around the world studying the food culture of other countries. Obviously, to achieve this, I would need to be well-remunerated for that job. I don't expect to become rich, but wealthy enough to afford it. Nowadays, I don't think about becoming a chef as much, but it's still deeply latent in my heart. And... Who knows? Maybe one day, I can make it a reality, traveling to numerous countries and opening 'Pancho's Kitchen.' You are all invited!
