BLOG 4: Time Travel to the Future

Forward, always forward. In middle school, we had to read some books that were categorized as "classics." I don't really know if 'Marianela' is one of them, but at that moment, I really enjoyed it. For those who have never read this novel, I'm going to summarize it: Marianela is an orphaned girl who was 'adopted' by a well-off family. In that house, she takes on the responsibility of keeping the son of that family safe. Why? He is blind. So she takes him on trips in the meadow and describes the world to him with words. Both of them fall in love. Partly because he feels grateful to Marianela for being his eyes. On the other hand, she has never been treated well because she is very ugly. Well, this story doesn't have a happy ending. A doctor arrives in the town and cures the son's eyes. He sees that Marianela is ugly, and he rejects her. Then, he marries his cousin! Marianela falls into deep sadness and she dies. What a sad story! But, what is th...

BLOG 3: My dream job

A big dream, to become a Chef First, I would like to introduce you to the mental image that I have about food. I always enjoy food. Do not misunderstand me; I don't only talk about eating (though enjoying delicious dishes is also good); I also take pleasure in other factors, like the scent, the appearance, and the aesthetics. And I want you to pause at this term: aesthetics. This word has a strong presence in recent years (especially in other areas like clothing and lifestyle), but when I talk about food, it takes on another meaning for me. I imagine an experienced chef cooking amazing dishes with a lot of skill. For me, that is a spectacular show to watch. So, yes, my dream job was to be a chef and make people happy with the food I cook. The question is: If your dream was to become a chef, why are you studying dentistry? Well... Being a chef was a childhood dream that came to my mind after seeing characters like Remy (the name of the rat that stars in "Ratatouille," I us...

BLOG 2: The Best Holiday Ever

One day in Concepción The beginning of this trip was originated with an innocent request, my birthday was approaching, my sister and my mom asked me what gift I wanted (before knowing my answer I want you to know that I was only 6 years old), my answer was: a happy meal. Although it's hard to believe, in the city where I grew up there are no malls, no cinemas, much less a McDonald's. So, my knowledge about the world was limited to what I saw on television, and I remember being captivated by a commercial promoting a box that’s contain delicious food plus a toy, which my child mind interpreted as the best combination of the world. Given such a request, and considering how far the restaurant chain was from my city, there was no other option, they have to take me to the closest metropolis to Lebu (my hometown), Concepción. This city is not characterized for being a tourist attraction, is better known for being a city that have a large number of universities and shopping centers. An...

Norway: The way leading to the north Oslo   (Capital of Norway) It sounds funny, but the first time i heard about this country was in a YouTube video made by ElrubiusOMG. In that video he shows the place where he grew up, and my first impressions were a lonely city with a enormous amount of snow and numerous hills colored of green and white. For me (a person who does'nt like warm climates and prefer empty places instead of crowds), was simply perfect.  What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Norway? Exactly! Vikings. The Viking Age takes part of the history of the country. They were characterised by they tough attitude and of course their technology. Norway across the history was categorized like a cold and infertile land (not so far from the reality) and the vikings had to adapt, hence the developent of the longship, one of the greatest solutions to the lack of suitable farming. This invention made this civilization able to explore and raid dif...
